How Tier 1 Began

The Tier 1 Therapy family is built upon generations of therapeutic care. In her youth founder Anja Rasmussen was influenced by her father, physical therapist Ole Bakke. Anja’s passions were sparked after seeing her father’s impact over more than a decade of providing care. In 1990 she earned her degree in physical therapy from Loma Linda University and started providing in-home therapeutic treatments. For the next several decades Anja worked as a home-care therapist and saw first-hand the importance of providing easily accessible care in a patient’s own home environment.

How We Grew

In 2019 Karl Rasmussen, Anja’s son, suggested to her that by operating clinics in assisted and independent living facilities she could provide faster care to her patients while still giving them the convenience of treatment in their living environment. With this idea Tier 1 Therapy was born. Anja brought in physical therapists, speech therapists, and occupational therapists to provide a full spectrum of care and help the residents achieve any and all of their goals. With expert therapeutic care in-house the living center residents are able to receive customized, convenient care quickly and are able to form a strong, familiar bond with the therapists. The efficacy of their approach quickly spread as other assisted and independent living facilities saw the advantage of having an in-house therapeutic team. One living center became two, then three! In the next year we will be in six living centers with more growth planned very soon!

Our Future Vision

The future for Tier 1 Therapy is bright. We will hold true to the mission which has guided us from the start – to help our patients live full and free lives through targeted geriatric therapies. We will continue to work closely with our living center partners to offer expert care, quickly and conveniently. We are investing in our people and investing in our equipment to stay on the cutting edge of geriatric therapy.
